This new baby is a very good addition to the Ford’s line-up. Ford has waded in with their All-new Ranger which Driving Torque has been trying out for size in this range-topping Wildtrak guise.
Talking about the size of this new model, generally that is the thing that grabs your attention when you first come across the new Ford Ranger in town. It has massive size. By their own nature, double-cabs are always large on the side because there is a need of it due to the combination of large enough cargo area with 5 occupants inside.
The car’s appearance is nice. Deliberately striking and it certainly grabs the attention wherever it goes. With its sheer size it is combined with visual highlights including its metallic paints. The interior of the car is about as car-like as a pick up gets.
The rangers pride on the road is very incredibly accommodating and relaxing. Just as what you have expected from a big vehicle with large wheelbase and amount of suspension travel. The handling is a little bit jumpy because of its spring suspension, especially on the corners. All controls have been designed nice and cool and this new ranger really belies on its size and weight. The steering is also very nice, it is so precise and accurate and even automatic gear-selector is finger-light. Ford has done a very great work, because of their efforts and hard work, they want to make the pick-up as civilized as I can be and user-friendly as possible.
The Wildtrak spec is only available with Ford’s 3.2l Diesel Duratorq engine. Sporting 200ps and an impressive 470nm of torque, it is quite a quiet unit also contributes a sluggish workhorse into a nippier workhorse.
The model is not actually rapid but being to transport 2 tons of 4×4 from 0-62mph in 10 seconds is no mean feat.
Although some of its interiors are plastic and a little scratchy, with the driver’s aides and multitude of electric motors, it is very easy to forget that you are actually riding a semi-industrial vehicle. Until it comes down to parking off course, because of its size, it may be hard to park.
The ranger has a rear view camera. It is not that much but it is also very nice. But if I had to choose what to put on it, I hope they will make parking sensors, because of its huge size.
It concludes that the 2013 Ford Ranger is really a user-friendly but also the price is right. A good car always gets a good price.
