After much more of a debate whether it is just another CBR 250R under another name tag, and yes, it is, as the name “CBR” implies. The bike looks familiar when brought to life on the road and maybe one of Honda’s aggressive moves. This bike has raised a lot of questions when it is first showcased on its first auto expo this year. Introducing Honda’s fines, the Honda CBR 150R. The cues of the designs could be mistakenly that of the 250, but the similarities ends here.

Engine and Performance

The CBR 150R is energized by a light 149.4 cc engine with double overhead camshafts and 4 valves. To add to that, with just a few short stroke of the engine, the CBR 150R revs smoothly and with confidence. When the indication of its speedo reads at 140kmph, it runs on the road quite fast and with daring moves. As it even hits the 22kmph in the 3rd gear, no one will even catch a glimpse of what kind of bike is passing even though its peak torque is 12.6 Nm coming in at a high 8.5k RPM. The engine will cruise easily all day at 90-100Kmph at about 7-8.5 k RPM in top gear, as the 150R gearbox is pushed all morning, putting the other 150′s in shame.

The Build

Depends upon one’s point of view, the Honda CBR 150R’s looks much more like of its elder sibling which points to be an advantage or not. It looks more proportional to the 250R, the alloys and the engine case gets the black treatment which looks comfortable good on the 150R. The bike relatively does feel compact, light and fast; the panels are good and with decent finish. Both seats are quiet good and comfortable, while the pillion seat is very usable with rear grab rails.

Accessories

The CBR 150R comes with the standard orange backlit digital meter which is clear and bright enough to show the basic information like the fuel tank status, turn indicators, speed, odometer, the analogue tachometer and the temperature. It is also equipped with basic tool kit: two spanners and a screwdriver.

The Honda CBR 150R is more of an “all-day-round” bike than a purpose built motorcycle. Its performance is one that will make Honda proud under different scenarios and would be more of a choice to people. This motorcycle gives a mixed touch of competitiveness and practicality on the edge.
