Honda CR-V Model Year 2002 – 2004 Voluntary Recall
Calling the attention to all owners of Honda CR-V Model Year 2002 – 2004!
Last March 30, 2012 from the press release by Honda Cars Philippines Inc. (HCPI) this announces a voluntary safety recall of some Honda CR-V models to replace the specific parts of the Lighting Switch Assembly with countermeasure parts.
In order to continue gaining the public trust and making the loyal customers safe they are now putting this issue the utmost priority and also as being part of the Honda’s company principle on worldwide customer satisfaction. Honda Cars Philippines is now carrying out proactive market action through the conduct of a Voluntary Safety Recall. This action is in accordance to Honda’s own standard despite of the absence of this law in the Philippines that requires such action. This safety recall involves specifically low beam connecting wire replacement of some 20,587 units of Honda CR-V in the mentioned year models.
They find out that due to the insufficient length of the electric wire connected to the headlight switch, the wire is being stretched during operation. As the end result, terminal wire joint moves causing increase in contact resistance thereby generating heat which can lead to melting of wire connecting coupler, which eventually leads to headlight switch malfunction causing the low beam to become non-operational.
So far Honda Philippines don’t have any record accident report yet concerning the matter of this defect.
Honda Car Philippines Inc., already sending letters of notice to the concerned CR-V owners last April 2, 2012. If you haven’t receive your letter of notice but your one of the chosen few who owns this model you better contact them now at Honda Hotline 1-800-1000-HONDA (46632) and (02) 857-7240 or email at [email protected] or their local dealers for service appointment.
