At HONDA there are many options for those looking for an Environmentally sound way of driving. Hybrid car technology offers one of the most popular categories of Green cars.

With hybrid technology being this concept’s key selling point, you likely expect exceptional fuel economy. It’s not only the design that will impress you, but the theoretical performance of the Honda CR-Z hybrid concept is also to be admired. For three decades, Honda has played a leading role in meeting environmental challenges. In fact, Honda was the first manufacturer to offer Ultra-Low-Emission Vehicle (ULEV)-rated emission technology on a production vehicle.

Hybrid vehicles are typically rather boring cars with the ultimate goal being fuel efficiency. Honda is showing off the new 2013 CR-Z Sport Hybrid coupe that looks much sportier than the traditional hybrid and the CR-Z is a hybrid with a more performance-tuned nature. The 2013 CR-Z Sport Hybrid will go on sale and hopefully in Cebu, City.

For the 2013 year model, the vehicle gets significant updates for power-train, styling, and new features. One of the key new features is more power from the new lithium-ion battery pack that improves the performance of the vehicle and its EPA fuel efficiency ratings. The hybrid drive-train system in the car uses a 1.5-liter four-cylinder 16-valve single overhead cam engine with intelligent Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control. That system allows the engine to produce more power.

The power of the electric motor has been increased to 2013 from 10 kW to 15 kW thanks to a high-voltage lithium-ion battery pack. The CR-Z is now able to deliver a combined peak output of 130 hp at 6000 RPMs and 140 pound-foot of torque for manual transmission versions with CVT models offering 127 pounds-foot of torque.

Despite the extra power, the EPA city/highway/combined efficiency rating is up by one mpg to 36/39/37 mpg for CVT models. Six-speed manual models have ratings of 31/38/34. The vehicle also gets a number of other changes for 2013 including a revised front fascia, 16-inch alloy wheels, a new rear diffuser, a new Plus Sport System, revised interior trim, available two-tone seats, standard Bluetooth, standard rear view camera, and lots more.

Concept Design:

Sleek, aerodynamic and environmentally friendly: that’s what CR-Z is made off. The CR-Z Hybrid combines a 6-speed manual gear box matched with Honda’s 1.5L i-VTEC+IMA Hybrid System to give its best performance in any of its three drive modes: Sport, Normal or ECON.The 1.5L i-VTEC + IMA hybrid system will combine it’s power and efficiency that work perfectly together to deliver better fuel economy and driving pleasure.

The CR-Z hybrid has a 3-Mode Driving System and it alters the responses of the throttle, steering, Auto Climate Control Air Conditioning and level of assistance provided by IMA hybrid system. The individual modes are indicated on the Ambient Meter as glowing colored rings of light. The illuminated Advance Sports Meter Cluster is an ergonomically design panel housing. The speedometer with ambient meter and will provide information like motor assist/battery charge, instantaneous fuel economy and remaining fuel based on current driving style.
The 3 Mode Driving System will allow the driver to choose one of the three modes that will suit the different driving conditions.

In Sport mode, the light will be red and the acceleration is more powerful and steering feedback is tighter. The IMA Hybrid System will provide more electric motor assistance.
In Normal Mode, there is a balance between performance, economy and emissions with ample torch in the low rpm range. The Normal mode will be best suit in most driving situations.
At ECON Mode, the fuel economy is prioritized over engine response. The ECO assist function will provide the driver with guidance on optimizing fuel efficiency.
While Normal and ECON Mode, the glowing colored rings of light fluctuate between blue, blue-green and green depending on driver’s way style of driving.

The speedometer on the Illuminated Advance Sports meter Cluster has been design to appear as though floating to allow the driver to switch focus between the speedometer and the road more easily.
The Multi-information Display will give the driver important driving feedback like fuel consumption, average speed, and distant range capability at the touch of a button.

Smart Interior Design. The interior of the CR-Z has been designed to be extremely functional. With control, convenience and comfort at the driver’s fingertips. The wide angle windscreen gives the driver a wide field of vision. With well-bolstered smart sports seats it provide firm body support.

The CR-Z has 6 manual transmission. The 6 speed manual gearbox is considered to be the optimum gearbox for sporty driving. With a short shift and firm but light action it delivers flexible gear changes. The ECO assist is also one of the best feature of this hybrid car. It is a sort of your Guidance and scoring function coach to drive efficiently in a fun and simple way by pushing the ECON button.

CR-Z hybrid has a stylish aerodynamic bullet design that directs airflow to reduce drag and improve performance while lowering fuel consumption and carbon emission.
Now, stand back and admire the low bonnet, swept-back headlights and the wide angled windscreen designed for better panoramic field of vision and be impressed by Honda CR-Z hybrid.
