All-new 2013 Toyota Vios up-close and personal

It’s been a while that Toyota Vios been roaming around the suburb of Cebu. Vios started to hit the Philippines market way back 2002. Plays a major role as the prime-mover in Toyota’s sedan segment out-numbered their Toyota Altis in terms of sales. And been dominating the road in the passenger cars segment.

Before the debut of this year’s Toyota Vios to the public, rumored arises all over the web. It says that 2013 Toyota Vios is derived from Etios and Corolla. Several wrap images have been released where you can see or describe in your own what the next model of Toyota’s famous sedan looks like.

Just few months ago, Toyota Philippines debut the All-new 2013 Toyota Vios. It’s getting labeled as “All-new” because it is indeed meticulously design and looks bolder versus its predecessors.

Exterior

The recent model has a futuristic looking front fascia composed of a stretched headlamps and accented chrome radiator grille which portrays continuous design flow. Also has a newly design black painted functional air dam, new looking fog-lamps and a outdoor mirrors which is color keyed with turn signal lamp.

Upon looking the sedan in side view you will noticed character lines that run along the side just above the new grip-type handles and below from the front-wheel up to the back.

A newly design rear quarter panels which receives a big leap. Brand new tail lamps looks superb. With a chrome bar in between that connects both tail lamps which results to maintained continuous design flow similar with the front.

You will be seeing a minor upgrade of the brake lights situated at the lower portion of the rear bumper as well and comes with with a neat set of 8-spoke allow wheels.

Interior

Upon entry, the new design approach of the dashboard catches my attention.
It’s totally different from what we seen from the previous models.

Equipped with an sporty looking instrument panel with multi-information display. Where you can see several common warning indicator for seatbelt, brake oil, park brake, EBD , door ajar and ECO assists.

The middle air-conditioning is integrated together with the CD/MP3 player which already have console box for AUX and USB connectivity.

Playing your favorite playlist from your latest smart-phones and tablets are now made easy. No need to purchase other peripherals just to have it sync in your car audio systems.

A 3-spoke sporty leather steering wheel also installed with audio controls on the left. Music selection and control are now even made better where drivers won’t leave their eyes off the road even a single second.
It has a leather shifter and knob which is far more better than previous.

An arm rest with cup holder once left up. Sun visor with personal lamp, vanity mirrors for both driver and passenger. Fabric and vinyl seats for base model and a front personal lamp.

Driving posture are also redefined more than before. It’s way far more comfortable than the previous.

The cabin size is upgraded, it’s now bigger which means it has more legroom than the previous.

Road noise also are eliminated like 60%. When it comes to the handling, its far better than the previous as well.

ENGINE

No major upgrades from before, it is still uses the same VVT-i, 4cylinder in-line DOHC 16V EFI(Electric Fuel Injection).

FUEL CONSUMPTION

As far as the information i got from the sales executive. The fuel consumption of this new Vios as far as they tested it.

- City driving with the current traffic the ratio is 1liter to 8-9km.
- Highway driving with air-conditioning the ratio is 1liter to 12-13km .
-Highway driving without air-conditioning it consumes 1liter to 18-19km.

It just based on the data they told me, as i don’t personally tested its consumption since it’s just been a short review of the car.

SAFETY

When it comes to safety the new Vios is equipped with SRS airbags for both driver and passenger except for the base
model. ABS(Anti-Lock Brake System) with electronic distribution and brake assist. Seatbelts, child lock protection and a high mount stop lamp.

SECURITY

Comes with TVSS(Toyota Vehicle Security System) and Wireless door lock except for the base model.
